Bruins sign goaltender Madden

The Providence Bruins announced today that they have signed goaltender Chris Madden to a professional tryout contract. The 25-year-old native of Liverpool, New York had been playing with the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL. Madden was tied for fourth in the ECHL with 14 wins, while ranking fourth with a 2.14 GAA. His save percentage of .941 ranked second in the league, while his shutout total of five tied him for the league lead.

Bruin goaltender Hannu Toivonen, who left Friday's game with a knee injury, will have surgery on Tuesday to determine the nature of the injury, and how long he will be out of the lineup.

The Bruins visit the Portland Pirates tonight at 7:05 p.m. They return home to host the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, February 20 at 4:05 p.m.
