
Bruins' Lucas Gore Named CHL Goaltender Of The Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Lucas Gore of the Chilliwack Bruins is the CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending February 21. Gore was perfect in both of his starts earning two shutout victories compiling 59 saves for a goals-against-average of 0.00 and save percentage of 1.000.
Gore made 28 saves and earned first star of the game honours Tuesday night in a 1-0 shutout win over the Seattle Thunderbirds. His second straight shutout also earned him first star honours when he made 31 saves on Friday night to blank the Swift Current Broncos 3-0.
Gore, a 19-year-old from Kamloops, BC, is playing in his second full WHL season with the Bruins and is tied for the league-lead with five shutouts. This season he has also posted a record of 18-15-1-0 with a goals-against-average of 2.92 and save percentage of.903.
Adam Courchaine of the OHL's Erie Otters and Nicola Riopel of the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats were both strongly considered after both goaltenders backstopped their clubs to two shutouts on the week. Courchaine did so in four starts earning three victories with a goals-against-average of 1.67 and save percentage of.955, while Riopel was perfect in both of his starts making 31 saves for a goals-against-average of 0.00 and save percentage of 1.000.
