
Bruins announce training camp schedule

Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, released today their training camp schedule. Camp will open Monday, September 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Rhode Island Sports Center, Rte. 146; North Smithfield, RI and run through Tuesday, October 4th. The Bruins will also have four pre-season games as part of the pre-season schedule, beginning on Tuesday, September 27th versus the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7:05 p.m. at the Boss Arena on the University of Rhode Island campus. The Providence Bruins also announced they invited defensemen Robbie Barker, Cole Byers, Chris Dyment and Michael Schutte and forwards David Lundbohm, Sam Paolini, John Ronan, Tanner Shultz and David Silverstone to training camp.
Barker, 24, spent the last four seasons playing college hockey at the University of New Hampshire where he had 28 points (4g, 24a) and 146 PIM in 110 career games. Last season, he had a career high 19 points (2g, 17a) and 66 PIM in 42 games. Prior to playing college hockey, the Concord, New Hampshire native spent the 2000-01 season with the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League (USHL).
Byers, 22, played for the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL last season recording 37 PIM in 11 games. During the 2003-04 season, the Nipawin, Saskatchewan native played for the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) posting 15 points (2g, 13a) and 235 PIM in 52 games. Byers was also a member of last year's Providence Bruins' training camp.
Dyment, 25, enters his fourth professional season. Last season, the Reading, Massachusetts native played 48 games for the Providence Bruins, finishing with seven points (3g, 4a) and 112 PIM. Dyment was the Montreal Canadiens third pick, 97th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. From 1998-02 he skated for Boston University where, for two seasons, he was the teams' top scoring defenseman and a Second-Team All-American. In his first professional season with the Houston Aeros, Dyment was a member of their Calder Cup winning team. Over his career, Dyment has 14 points (6g, 8a) and 204 PIM in 124 AHL games.
Lundbohm, 25, enters his second professional season. Last season, the Roseau, Minnesota native played 65 games for the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, tallying 40 points (18g, 22a) and 61 PIM. Lundbohm helped lead Florida to the ECHL Finals where they lost to the Trenton Titans 4 games to 2. Prior to turning pro, the forward spent four seasons at the University of North Dakota. In his junior season, Lundbohm led his team in assists (37) and plus/minus (+36), while finishing third on the team in scoring with 52 points (15g, 37a) and being named an All-American Candidate.
Paolini, 25, enters his third professional season. Last year, he began the season with the ECHL's Toledo Storm before being traded to the Greenville Grrrowl. He received four call-ups during the season to the Cleveland Barons, Rochester Americans, San Antonio Rampage and Utah Grizzlies. In total, the Rochester, New York native tallied 53 points (15g, 38a) and 41 PIM in 72 games. During the 2003-04 season, Paolini spent time with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (ECHL) and Cleveland and Rochester. In 68 games, the left wing posted 48 points (19g, 29a) and 54 PIM. Prior to turning pro, Paolini played four seasons for Cornell University.
Ronan, 25, spent the last four seasons playing college hockey at the University of Maine where he had 47 points (25g, 22a) and 40 PIM in 132 career games and was the captain his senior year. At the end of last season the Braintree, Massachusetts native joined the Alaska Aces of the ECHL for two regular season games and three playoff games.
Schutte, 26, enters his fourth professional season. Last season, the Burlington, Ontario native split time in the ECHL with the Dayton Bombers and Kelly Cup Champion Titans, while spending two games with the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. In 69 games during the 2004-05 season, Schutte had 32 points (8g, 24a) and 83 PIM. The defenseman split 48 games between the Springfield Falcons and Aeros in the 2003-04 season, posting seven points (5g, 2a) and 30 PIM. In his rookie season, Schutte played for Springfield and the Lowell Lock Monsters tallying 23 points (7g, 16a) and 35 PIM. Prior to turning pro, Schutte played three years at the University of Maine.
Shultz, 20, played the majority of last season with the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) recording 31 points (9g, 22a) and 285 PIM in 42 games. He also played one game in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Kamloops Blazers. Prior to joining La Ronge, the Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native spent two seasons with the Saskatoon Blades (WHL) where he had 16 points (8g, 8a) and 464 PIM in 124 games.
Silverstone, 23, enters his fourth professional season. Last year the Toronto, Ontario native played for the San Angelo Saints of the Central Hockey League (CHL). In 51 games, he had 17 points (10g, 7a) and 241 PIM. Prior to joining the Saints, Silverstone played with the Roanoke Express of the ECHL for two seasons, recording 22 points (4g, 18a) and 355 PIM. Before turning pro, the left wing skated three seasons with the Belleville Bulls.
The 2005-06 season opens up at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Friday, October 14th at 7:05 p.m. against the Portland Pirates.
