Bulldogs and Gilmour to contribute to Red Cross relief fund

The Hamilton Bulldogs have announced today the hockey club and former NHL star Doug Gilmour will be generating funds and collecting non-perishable food items for the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief efforts at the Bulldogs 10th Anniversary Home Opener on Friday, October 14th when they host the Grand Rapids Griffins at Copps Coliseum. Game time is 7:30 pm.

Gilmour will be at the Bulldogs home opener, in a Montreal Canadiens jersey, to drop the puck for the ceremonial face-off prior to the game. Bulldogs fans will have the opportunity to win Gilmour's autographed jersey and meet him in person through a raffle draw. All proceeds from the Gilmour raffle will be donated to the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.

Bulldogs fans are also encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the game, which will be donated to the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Representatives from the Red Cross will be at the game to accept donations.

Gilmour had a very impressive NHL career playing in 1474 games and earning totals of 450 goals and 964 assists for 1414 points, along with 1299 penalty minutes. The Kingston, Ontario native captured the Stanley Cup with the Calgary Flames in 1989 and was the recipient of the Frank J. Selke Trophy in 1992-93 as the NHL's Best Defensive Forward.
