BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced the team mascot Storm will make a trio of community appearances this weekend.
Storm will take part in a rib-eating contest at the Ash Creek Saloon in Fairfield to help raise funds for the Fairfield Police Athletic League this Saturday, September 17th at 1 p.m. Storm will also appear at a road race in New Haven to benefit the Ronald McDonald House this Sunday, September 18th at 11 a.m.
Storm and members of the Sound Tigers staff will take part in a fundraiser to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina at The Rinks at Shelton this Sunday from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Proceeds from this Sunday's open skate at The Rinks at Shelton will be donated to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund and fans will receive a voucher good for one free Sound Tigers ticket with every admission purchased to the skate.
The Sound Tigers will celebrate their fifth anniversary in Bridgeport as the top affiliate of the Islanders in 2005-06. They will open the season with the first of four straight road games when they visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday, October 5th. Their first home games will be Saturday and Sunday, October 22nd and 23rd when they host the Portland Pirates and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
