Indianapolis Indians News Release

TOLEDO, OHIO - J.T. Brubaker dominated the Toledo Mud Hens on Saturday night as he led the Indianapolis Indians to the 2-0 victory in his home state. Brubaker tied a career high with eight innings pitched as the Tribe pitching staff posted a shutout for the 14th time, the most in the International League.

Brubaker (7-3) began the game with eight straight outs. After a pair of two-out singles in the third, he sat down the next seven batters before Jacob Robson recorded the final hit off Brubaker in the seventh. The righty fanned six batters during his gem and did not issue a single walk.

Max Moroff gave Brubaker his first piece of run support in the top of the second inning. Kevin Kramer had led off the frame with a single to right field, and he scored all the way from first base when Moroff doubled to left field.

The long ball doubled the lead for Indianapolis (62-50) in the third inning. Jason Martin clubbed a pitch over the right-center field wall for his third homer since joining the Indians and ninth home run of the season overall. Both Martin and Brubaker began the season as teammates at Double-A Altoona.

With a 2-0 lead, Indians manager Brian Esposito handed the ball to Michael Feliz in the ninth inning. He worked around a one-out single to record his first save since joining the Indians. After the final out, Indy moved to 4.5 games ahead of second-place Toledo in the International League's West Division.

The Indians will conclude the road trip tomorrow night in Toledo, first pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. The Indians return home on Tuesday, August 7.
