Today's Game

This evening, the Bisons and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders will play a doubleheader at PNC Field after being rained out on Friday. The two teams will close out their three-game series on Sunday afternoon. Buffalo will then have a scheduled off-day on Monday before beginning their second-last home stand of the season August 7-12 against the Gwinnett Stripers and the Toledo Mud Hens.

Last Game: BUF 4, LHV 6

RHP Jacob Waguespack tossed 6.1 innings striking out a career-high 12 batters in the loss. INF Tim Lopes hit his first home run of the season and OF Jonathan Davis also had a long ball, his second in consecutive games. Both Lopes and Davis also crossed the plate twice which made up Buffalo's runs on the day.

Today's Game 1 Starter: LHP Matt Tracy

LHP Matt Tracy makes his sixth start with the Bisons this season. The lefty is coming off a one-hit performance on July 29 in Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Indianapolis Indians. Tracy fanned four batters and also walked four in six innings of work. He has thrown at least five innings in all of his starts this season.

Today's Game 2 Starter: LHP Thomas Pannone

LHP Thomas Pannone will throw in game two on normal rest for the Herd. The southpaw has tossed at least five innings in all five of his starts for Buffalo. Last time out, Pannone went 6.2 innings in defeat against Lehigh Valley (2H, 2R/ER, 3BB, 6SO). He has given up just four walks in 32.0IP.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (4-6)

The Bisons and RailRiders will play their second-last series this season. The two teams will wrap up their season series at Coca-Cola Field August 21-24, which is also Buffalo's final homestand of the year. The RailRiders have won the season series each of the last three years, including a 13-7 mark in 2017.

Jacob Waguespack

RHP Jacob Waguespack had a career-high 12 strikeouts on Thursday. Waguespack now has the most strikeouts for any pitcher in their Bisons' debut and only the third to post ten-plus strikeouts with the Herd (Jason Stanford '01 and Daniel Norris '14). The record book was not yet closed as Waguespack tied a Coca-Cola Field record in strikeouts (Mike York, 6/18/90). The righty also became the seventh Bisons' pitcher in the Modern Era with twelve-plus strikeouts in a single game.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 1-3 with a walk on Thursday. The 19-year old collected his first extra-base hit with a first-inning double. The slugger is now 2-7 (.286) with a .500 OBP in three games with the Herd. Guerrero Jr. was promoted from New Hampshire (AA) on Tuesday after 61 games for the Fisher Cats.

Bisons' Bits

1B Rowdy Tellez is batting 5-9 (.556) in three games in the month of August and .438 (7-16) in his last five...INF Tim Lopes and OF Jonathan Davis had back-to-back home runs on Thursday, the first for the team this season...RHP Justin Shafer had a 1.59 ERA in 11 appearances in July (11.1 IP, 3 SV).

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (50-59) has won back-to-back games against the Seattle Mariners. On Friday, LHP Ryan Borucki recorded his first MLB win in the Blue Jays 7-2 triumph over Seattle. Borucki tossed eight innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run for the win. The two teams will play again tonight before wrapping up their four-game series on Sunday from Safeco Field. The Jays have a scheduled off day on Monday following the trip.
