Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - First baseman Matt Skole launched a ninth inning home run, but the Charlotte Knights dropped game two of their three-game series against the Durham Bulls by a score of 3-2 from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte on Saturday. The Knights welcomed 10,240 fans through the gates for the team's 18th sell-out crowd of the 2018 season.

The Knights rallied in the final inning of the game against the Durham bullpen, but fell just short. Designated hitter Ryan LaMarre raced around the bases on Jake Elmore's single, but was tagged out at home plate in the bottom of the ninth inning to end the game. Skole's ninth-inning blast was his 10th of the season. He finished the game with two hits.

Shortstop José RondÏŒn got the Knights on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning with his team-high 14th home run of the season. He went 1-for-4 on the evening.

LHP Jordan Guerrero (3-1, 2.84) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits over five innings and was saddled with the loss. Guerrero threw 94 pitches and struck-out six batters. In relief of Guerrero, four Charlotte relievers (Rob Scahill, Caleb Frare, Ryan Burr, and Ian Hamilton) combined to hold the Bulls scoreless over the final four innings.

The Knights will conclude their three-game series against the Bulls on Sunday with a 5:05 p.m. game. Pre-game radio coverage on Sunday is set for 4:50 p.m. on 730 The Game ESPN Charlotte. The game will also be broadcast live on NBC Sports Chicago. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad, long-time radio broadcaster Mike Pacheco, and Charlotte 49ers head baseball coach Loren Hibbs will have the call for all of the action. Fans can also tune in to hear the game broadcast in Spanish on 102.3 FM Latina with broadcasters Rafael Bastidas and Ernesto Hurtado.
