Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

August 13 -- Brooklyn, NY-- The Cyclones defeated the Jamestown Jammers by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday evening at KeySpan Park. The win improved the Cyclones' record to 36-19 and kept them 1.5 games ahead of Williamsport in the McNamara Division.

The Jammers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning when first baseman Ryan Bear hit a solo home run. The Cyclones threatened in the fifth inning when they had runners on first and second with two outs but could not drive in a run to tie up the game.

However, in the seventh inning, Yunir Garcia singled to lead off the inning and Tyler Davidson and Rashad Parker both walked to load up the bases for Aaron Baldiris. Baldiris would then clear the bags when he laced a double into the left centerfield gap to put the Cyclones up by a score of 3-1.

Brooklyn starter Vince Cordova pitched five solid innings allowing only one run on three hits while striking out six. Rafael Castro relieved Cordova and pitched three innings without allowing a run to pick up his third win of the year. Robert Paulk pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 11th save of the season.

The Cyclones and Jammers conclude the three game series tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m. Matthew Lindstrom (6-1) will make the start for Brooklyn hoping to pick up his league leading seventh victory of the year.
