Batavia Muckdogs News Release

Batavia, NY - The Muckdogs were able to find the right stuff for the job on Tuesday night, topping the Tri City ValleyCats 5-0 at Dwyer Stadium. The Muckdogs had previously lost eight games in a row at home, failing to put together a win since July 17th.

Batavia took the lead early and never looked back. In the second inning, Jake Blalock singled and Kiel Fisher doubled to bring Corey Von Tungeln to the plate. Von Tungeln lined a single into right field to plate both Batavia runners for a 2-0 advantage.

In the third inning, Joe Brunink came up to bat with two outs and took a Joey DeLeon fastball over the right field fence to give the 'Dogs a 3-0 lead.

Brunink would score again in the eighth after singling and coming around on a Jake Blalock double. Omar Bramasco singled to score Blalock to complete the Muckdogs scoring.

Joe Diefenderfer (5-6) improved his record to 5-6 on the season; working seven innings and allowing only four hits en route to a victory. C.J. Woodrow worked the final two innings to grab the save for Batavia. It was his first of the season.

Brunink, Blalock, Fisher, and Von Tungeln each had two hits in the game.

The Muckdogs face the ValleyCats on Wednesday night in game two of the series. It is Stop DWI night at the Ballpark, free General Admission for all Muckdogs fans.
