[Staten Island, NY] - The Staten Island Yankees snapped a three-game losing streak with an offensive outburst against the Vermont Expos. The Baby Bombers scored seven runs on 12 hits in the team's 7-2 victory. Jeff Karstens earned his third straight win and Enrique Cruz went three for five with a double, two runs scored and one RBI on the night. Karstens has gone 3-0 since returning to the starting rotation, allowing just two runs in those three outings. He went seven innings tonight, allowing one run on four hits, striking out seven and walking two. The Yankees scored their first two runs without swinging a bat, both on wild pitches. Up just 2-1, they scored two more in the fifth on a walk by Adam Shorts and an error by the shortstop. Staten Island plated one more in the sixth on Melky Cabrera's first home run of the season and two more in the seventh on singles by Cabrera and Cruz. With the win, Karstens improved to 3-2 on the season. The Yankees and Expos conclude their three-game series Thursday night. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
