Swift Current Broncos News Release
Swift Current, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos announced today that they have renamed the blue v.s. white intersquad game as part of Training Camp to the "Denny Ulmer Cup", in honour of long-time scout Dennis Ulmer who passed away earlier this year.
"We're going to miss him, but he's been talked about countless times in the booth," said Quinn Hancock, Broncos Scout and Ulmers Son in Law. "So that's the fun part that we're really going to enjoy, so his name to be associated like that is awesome."
Ulmer scouted for the Broncos for 20-plus years and brought in numerous players to the organization. His love of hockey and passion for the development of young players showed in his years with the organization.
"Dennis was a very special person. There was no better ambassador for our organization, so its only fitting that we honour him by naming the trophy for the Blue and White game "the Dennis Ulmer Cup,"" said General Manager Chad Leslie. "We missed Dennis a lot here at camp this year, this was his favourite time of year to mingle with everyone, see the prospects and their families and enjoy being at the rink. We will miss him very much. Forever a Bronco."
His impact has been felt throughout the Broncos scouting staff and organization as a whole and his name will now live on as Bronco players will play for the "Denny Ulmer Cup".
