Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips have officially signed forward Rhys Jamieson [pr. REESE JAY-muh-son] to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
"It feels great to be an Everett Silvertip," commented Jamieson. "It's a wonderful place here. I really love the rink, I love everything about Everett. The waterfront, everything's a block or two away, I really like it here. I'm excited to call this my place."
Jamieson, an '08-born Calgary, AB native, was selected 32nd overall in the second round of the 2023 WHL Draft. He spent the 2022-23 season with the Calgary Bisons U15 AAA, where he netted 34 goals with 37 assists in 34 games played. He tacked on an additional seven goals and 10 assists in nine playoff games, and was named an AEHL U15 Second-Team All-Star at the conclusion of the season.
"We're very excited to have Rhys join our organization," said Silvertips general manager/head coach Dennis Williams. "I had the opportunity to see him play at the Alberta Cup and was impressed with his skill set and his two-way compete. We feel he will have a positive impact on our program in the future and we are excited to have him and his family as a part of the Silvertips organization."
Jamieson registered a goal and two assists in five games with Team Green at the 2023 Alberta Cup. He earned a three-game call-up to the Calgary Bulls U17 AAA squad as well, posting two assists in his stint. His 2021-22 season with the Bisons U15 AAA was a successful one, picking up 11 goals and 11 assists in 34 games.
He has credited former WHLer Jarome Iginla as an inspiration, modeling his game in the power-forward mold of driving to the net and getting shots in close.
"Rhys is a determined and passionate forward who continues to show development in his game," noted Silvertips assistant general manager Mike Fraser. "He has a bright future in Everett."
Rhys Jamieson is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL by signing his Scholarship and Development Agreement.
