London Rippers News Release

LONDON, ONTARIO - Joash Brodin hit a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 7th, leading the London Rippers (10-10) to a 5-4 come-from-behind win.

Down 3-1, London had runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out in the 7th and Joliet elected to pitch to Brodin, the Frontier League's best hitter, instead of intentionally walking him and they paid the price.

"Every night there's some great drama at the ballpark and different people keep stepping up." Field Manager, David Martin says, "That's how you win games and we are on a roll right now."

Andrew Chilcoat (1-0) got the win as the Rippers have reached the .500 mark, after starting the year 3-10.

London scored their first run in the 2nd inning on an RBI single by Jim Vahalik.

Joliet's DH, Erik Lis homered to lead off the 5th inning, ending a streak of 22 scoreless innings by Rippers' pitchers and tying the game at 1-1.

The Slammers took a 3-1 lead in the top of the 7th on RBI singles by Kyle Maunus and Brad Netzel, chasing Rippers starter, Jamie Richmond after 6.2 innings.

Richmond finished with three earned runs against, while striking out 6 and walking one.

David Fox got the Slammers within a run with an RBI single in the top of the 8th but David Francis closed out the game for his 2nd save.

London wraps up their six game home stand tomorrow at 1pm against Joliet. Eric Katzman (0-2 2.95) starts for London, countered by Joliet's Jake Renshaw (0-1 0.00).
