Wild Things drop Game Two

Washington Wild Things News Release
WASHINGTON, PA - The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, dropped game two of their weekend series with the Normal CornBelters by a score of 4-0 at CONSOL Energy Park Saturday night.
The Wild Things bats were held in check throughout the night largely due to a strong starting pitching effort from Jacob Liedka. Liedka worked six innings of scoreless ball and left the game after throwing 68 pitches, 50 of them for strikes. The reliever making a spot-start had a perfect game intact through 4 1/3 innings.
Back-to-back singles by newly signed catcher Rick Devereaux and Michael Bando got Washington going, but the Wild Things were unable to take advantage of the one-out baserunners.
Casey Barnes took the loss for the Wild Things (8-11), evening his record at 1-1 on the season. Barnes went six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits, striking out six and walking one.
Normal got on the board first courtesy of back-to-back doubles by Steven Felix and Jordan Stouffer. One batter later Derek Luciano singled through the right side to make it 2-0 in favor of the CornBelters (5-13).
Wexford native Patrick Trettel of the CornBelters singled in the third for his first hit of the series. It appeared that Normal would take a 3-0 lead on the play, but Alvaro Ramirez was thrown out at the plate by left fielder Doug Thennis to end the inning. Trettle was welcomed to the plate each at-bat by an ovation from the 2,065 in attendance.
