New York Boulders News Release
BROCKTON, Mass. - The Brockton Rox snapped a 1-1 tie late in the game with two runs to move past the Rockland Boulders 3-1 in Can-Am League action on Saturday night.
Rox starter John Kelly struck out seven while only allowing one run over seven innings of work to pick up his first win in a Brockton uniform.
Brockton scored the game's first run in the bottom of the second off a sacrifice fly from catcher Chris Grossman to score Keith Brachold putting the Rox up 1-0.
The Boulders tied things up in the top of the sixth with an RBI single from Ryan Mollica that plated Mick Richard from second base.
However, the Rox scored two in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a Melvin Falu two-RBI single to center field giving Brockton the 3-1 edge.
Rockland went down one, two, and three in the top of the ninth to drop game three of the four game series.
Boulders' starter Jonathan Velasquez is charged with the loss after giving up three runs on eight hits in 7 1/3 innings of work.
Rockland (7-12, 26-39) sends right-hander Will Hassett to the hill Sunday for the series finale at 5:05 p.m. at Campanelli Stadium.
