Brockton, MA (June 18, 2008) - Rox CF Ervin Alcantara had a double and a two-run home run in the first two innings, as the Rox jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Worcester Tornadoes on Wednesday night. However the Tornadoes got two-run home runs from 2B Omar Pena and LF Francisco Caraballo as they erased the deficit and turned out a 7-5 win over the Rox.

Rookie starter LHP Chris McDonough took his first loss as a pro as he allowed five runs in five innings while walking five and striking out five. Tornadoes' starter RHP Matt Weagle improved to 5-1 after settling down following a rough first two frames. He allowed four runs on nine hits, walked four and struck out five in seven innings.

Rox 3B Phillip Cuadrado moved into the cleanup spot for the game and churned out three hits and an RBI including his ninth-inning sacrifice fly which cut the lead to 7-5. Four players had more than one hit in the game, but the offense was stymied in the middle innings.

Worcester closer RHP John Birtwell came on in the ninth to record his second save in as many nights and his seventh of the season. The Rox rallied against Birtwell, but left the tying run at second base after he struck out the last two men he faced to end the game.

The Rox and Tornadoes wrap up the three-game series on Thursday night with a first pitch scheduled for 6:05 PM. Rox RHP Wayne Lundgren (1-2, 5.34 ERA) will face Worcester RHP Junior Guerrero (2-1, 4.50 ERA).
