Brinkley's inside-the-park homer lifts Suns

Lakewood, NJ:Dante Brinkley was a man among boys on Tuesday night. Brinkley single handedly ended the Suns two game losing streak with four RBI's including a three run inside the park homerun in the eighth inning. The Suns won 5-2 thanks to Brinkley's 3-4 night. He is now hitting .486 on the season which leads the league.

RHP Kevin Mannix earned his first save with two amazing innings to end the game. Mannix, the Suns third pitcher of the game, faced seven guys in two innings, and retired six of them via the strikeout. RHP Rafael Cova (1-0) got the win with two innings of two run relief of RHP Jeff Landing who went the first five innings. Landing gave up six hits but held Lakewood (3-10) scoreless.

Wilson Batista chipped in with a three hit game, with and RBI and a run scored. Catcher Aaron Hathaway had a single to lead off the eighth and ninth for the Suns (10-3) and scored each time on hits by Brinkley.

The Suns try to take the rubber game of the three game series on Wednesday at 11:00am in Lakewood with RHP Jose Sanchez going up against Blueclaws' RHP Kyle Kendrick.

The Suns have an off day Thursday, then start a four game home stand against Delmarva on Friday at 6:35pm in Municipal Stadium on US Cellular Fireworks night.
