Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
There are three Whataburger locations in the state of Georgia.
Two in Brunswick and one in Thomasville.
That ¬â¢s three more than in 1989, when my career path took our young family from Huntsville, Texas, to Statesboro, Georgia.
Now a junket from Statesboro to Brunswick ¬" 91 miles ¬" wouldn ¬â¢t have been out of the question. Thomasville, near the Florida line ¬Â¦ that ¬â¢s another story. But it didn ¬â¢t really matter. Statesboro might as well have been 1,091 miles from the nearest Whataburger.
It wasn ¬â¢t easy. As former Hooks star outfielder (2005-06) Josh Anderson once said when asked what he ¬â¢d do in Corpus Christi if limited to a day ¬â¢s stay: ¬ÅGo to a Hooks game at night after visiting the LEX. Go get a Whataburger. Heather and I would die to have a Whataburger in the winter. We sit at home and salivate at the thought of a Whataburger. ¬Â
The Andersons make their off-season home in Kentucky.
He ¬â¢s not unlike another professional baseball player of some note, as you ¬â¢ll remember in this classic commercial.
If you dig Whataburger like Josh and Nolan and me, it ¬â¢s important for you to register in our Bring Home the W contest. You have a big advantage. Josh hasn ¬â¢t been seen in these parts since mid-September 2006, when Corpus Christi won the Texas League championship. Nolan and I are ineligible.
Don ¬â¢t take for granted that you get to enjoy Hooks Baseball at Whataburger Field and fresh, made-to-order Whataburgers right at the ballpark. Who knows ¬Â¦ you could be banished to one of the 40 states without Whataburger!
Three years ago, the Hooks and Whataburger began the Bring Home the W program. After every Hooks home win, a white flag with Whataburger ¬â¢s trademark orange ¬ÅW ¬Â is raised in center field. At night, lights illuminate the flag so motorists and pedestrians on surrounding streets know the game ¬â¢s outcome. Drivers traveling over Corpus Christi ¬â¢s signature Harbor Bridge have a great view of the flag ¬â¢s position, signaling another Hooks win.
By registering on our website, you could win the opportunity to raise the flag with Hooks mascots Rusty and Sammy, should the Hooks win on Wednesdays, which are Whataburger Fan Days at the ballpark.
Contest winners also receive four front-row seats, a parking pass, Whataburger meals for four delivered to their seats and a Whataburger Field desk clock.
The 2011 Grand Prize winner receives four front-row seats at the final Hooks home game on Friday, September 2, and Whataburger for an entire year.
