Brian Nugent Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud affiliate of the NHL's Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, announced today that forward Brian Nugent has been named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for March 17-23. He's the second Cincinnati player to earn the award this season.

Nugent scored five goals, assisted on one other and was a +4 as the Cyclones won a pair of games against Elmira last week. The 25-year-old tallied four goals, including the game-winner, and had an assist in a 7-5 victory on Friday then scored one goal in a 4-1 triumph on Saturday.

A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Nugent has 19 points (12g-7a) in 23 games with the Cyclones after being acquired in a trade with Las Vegas on January 29. Overall in 48 games this season, he has notched 22 points (13g-9a).

Prior to turning pro, Nugent was a four-year letter winner at Northern Michigan University, recording 15 tallies (9g-6a) 110 collegiate contests.

On behalf of Brian Nugent, a case of pucks will be donated to a Cincinnati youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 29,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.

Cincinnati opens a three game road trip through the South Division, beginning this Wednesday night in Orlando, Florida. They'll meet the Solar Bears for the second and final time this season at 7:00pm, with pre game coverage beginning on the Cyclones Radio Network (CyclonesHockey.com, America One, Cyclones Mobile App) at 6:30pm.

The Cyclones will return to U.S. Bank Arena on Thursday, April 3 when they host the Evansville IceMen at 7:30pm!
