Brian Bowen II Named to USA World Cup Qualifying Team

COLORADO SPRINGS - USA Basketball today named Iowa Wolves' forward Brian Bowen II to the 12-man roster of the USA World Cup Qualifying team. Bowen has started two games for the Wolves and is averaging 8.5 points and a team-leading 13.5 rebounds per game.

Team USA will train November 20-25 at the University of Houston and will participate in the first competition window of the 2021-23 FIBA World Cup Qualifying games, which will be played in a bubble format in Chihuahua, Mexico. The Americans will face Cuba on November 28 and will play host Mexico on November 29. The full 2021-23 FIBA World Cup Qualifying schedule is available here.

On the roster with Bowen is Jordan Bell (Santa Cruz Warriors), Josh Gray (Long Island Nets), Shaq Harrison (Delaware Blue Coats), DaQuan Jeffries (College Park Skyhawks), BJ ‚¬Ë†Johnson (Lakeland Magic), Orlando Johnson (free agent), Luke Kornet (Maine Celtics), Frank Mason III (South Bay Lakers), Chasson Randle (free agent), Zavier Simpson (Oklahoma City Blue) and Emanuel Terry (Stockton Kings).

Former NBA head coach Jim Boylen will serve as head coach of the USA Basketball Men's World Cup Qualifying team, while Ty Ellis and Othella Harrington will serve as assistant coaches.

Bowen is the second Iowa Wolves player to be selected to a USA Basketball team this season. Guard Canyon Barry was a member of the Team USA 3x3 squad that claimed gold at last week's inaugural FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup held in Miami, Fla.
