SYRACUSE, N.Y. - One of Central New York's most recognizable sports media personalities, Brent Axe, will take over the official Syracuse Crunch Twitter account, @SyracuseCrunch, during Friday's home game against the Portland Pirates. The versatile sports commentator covers all sports on air, in print, online and on social media via his Twitter handle, @BrentAxeMedia.
"I appreciate the Crunch asking me to do this. It's going to be fun," said Axe who's radio show, On The Block with Brent Axe, often features Crunch topics and guests. "I look forward to seeing the greatest fans in the AHL on Friday night. I also look forward to the various ways to make fun of Vance Lederman on his own team's Twitter account."
The Axeman has been talking sports in Syracuse for over 16 years. As community engagement specialist for Syracuse Media Group, Axe shapes the discussion of local and national sports topics on Syracuse.com and in The Post-Standard. A staple on Central New York airwaves, Axe's radio show, On The Block with Brent Axe, airs 5-6 p.m. weekdays on ESPN Radio Syracuse 97.7 FM & 1200 AM, the Crunch's flagship station.
"Our organization is excited to have someone of Brent's stature participate in this program," said Jim Sarosy, the Crunch's chief operating officer. "Brent brings a unique perspective that I know our fan base will enjoy."

The Syracuse native is a frequent guest on national programs to discuss Syracuse sports, and has worked as host on the Buffalo Bills Radio Network and as a reporter on Fox Sports Radio.
