Cleveland Monsters News Release
A two-goal second period propelled the Milwaukee Admirals (30-18-4-4) to a 3-0 win over the Lake Erie Monsters (24-23-5-3) Wednesday night at Quicken Loans Arena. With the loss, the Monsters winless skid stretched to five games. Forward Freddie Hamilton and defenseman Mat Clark, acquired Monday, made their debuts with the Monsters Wednesday night. The Monsters continue their season-long eight-game homestand on Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they welcome in the Chicago Wolves.
After a scoreless first period in which Monsters goalie Calvin Pickard was tested 13 times, Milwaukee notched a pair of goals in the middle frame. Colton Sissons banged in a rebound from a Johan Alm shot to give the Admirals a 1-0 lead 55 seconds into the second period. At the 8:49 mark, Ian White spotted Felix Girard open in front of the Monsters net, and after receiving the pass, Girard made a move and slipped a wrist shot past Pickard to give the Admirals a 2-0 lead.
Joe Pendenza's empty-netter with 2:04 left in the third period sealed the 3-0 win for Milwaukee.
Pickard stopped 28 of 30 shots for the Monsters; he is 14-12-5 on the season and has started 14 of the last 15 games in net for the Monsters. Marek Mazanec stopped all 16 Monsters shots for his fourth shutout of the season; he is 16-12-4 on the campaign for Milwaukee.
The Monsters host Chicago Friday at 7:30 p.m. Friday's game airs live on ESPN 850 WKNR.
