Break out the Brooms: Hot Rods Sweep Whitecaps with 7-2 Win

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods completed a sweep of the West Michigan Whitecaps with another 7-2 win. 1B Jim Haley hit a solo home run to tie the game, and RHP Tobias Myers now leads the team with six wins on the season.

The Hot Rods scored first in the very first inning when 2B Vidal Brujan manufactured a run with a leadoff single, a steal of third, and then scored on an error after the throw from the catcher sailed into the outfield.

West Michigan took the lead in the fourth inning thanks to a two-run home run from RF Dylan Rosa. Those were the only runs that that Whitecaps scored in the game.

Haley tied up the game for Bowling Green in the fifth inning when he leadoff with a solo home run to right field. CF Emilio Gustave singled and came around to score what would end up being the winning run on a single from RF Eleardo Cabrera. Cabrera and Brujan both scored on a double from LF Moises Gomez and the Hot Rods had a 5-2 lead.

Bowling Green added on two more runs in the sixth inning when 3B Adrian Rondon and Cabrera scored after Brujan singled and an error in the outfield allowed both runs to score and Brujan to advance to third.

RHP Tobias Myers pitched six innings in his start and allowed three hits, two runs with only one being earned, and three walks while striking out five. RHP Tyler Zombro followed up in relief and threw two scoreless innings. Finally RHP Phoenix Sanders recorded the final three outs of the ballgame in a 1-2-3 top of the ninth.

The Hot Rods will be off tomorrow before the Lansing Lugnuts come to town for a three-game series. The starters for the series have not been announced.
