LOUISVILLE, KY- The Louisville Bats dumped the Richmond Braves 5-2 Monday afternoon at Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats ended a Braves winning streak at three games. Louisville erupted for four runs in the third inning to salvage one win from the four game series.

The Braves jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Andy Marte, who extended his hitting streak to seven games. The Bats bounced back to tie the game at one in their half of the first on an RBI single by A.J. Zapp. The Bats sent 10 men up in their third inning uprising. Zapp knocked in a run with a double to highlight the rally. Marte smashed a fourth inning home run to cut the Bats lead to 5-2. Three Louisville relievers, including ex-Brave Andy Van Hekken, blanked the Braves over the final four innings.

Braves starter Zach Miner took the loss. Brian Rose earned the win and Chris Booker picked up a save. The Braves missed a chance for their first four game sweep on the road since May of 2003 but did win a road series for the first time this season.

The 10 game road trip moves to Norfolk for the first of a four game home and home series at 7:15 PM. The Braves will send Daniel Curtis to the mound against Mike Matthews. For more information please call 804-359-4444 or visit the Braves on the web at www.rbraves.com.
