Braves vs. Lookouts Series Cancelled
August 30, 2005 - Southern League (SL1)
Mississippi Braves News Release
The Mississippi Braves announce that their three-game series vs. the Chattanooga Lookouts, August 30-September 1, has been cancelled. Due to damage at Trustmark Park sustained during Hurricane Katrina and the local power outages and hardships, the Braves have decided to cancel their series vs. the Lookouts.
The Braves will face the Carolina Mudcats in a four-game series to finish out their inaugural season from September 2-5. Mississippi and Carolina face off in game one of the series on Friday, September 2, at 7:05. Saturday's game will also be at 7:05 while Sunday's game is at 5:05, and Monday's game, the season finale, is at 2:05.
"We realize that these are very trying times for everyone in the state of Mississippi. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this devastating storm. We were fortunate to not have sustained major structural damage at Trustmark Park, however, there was substantial damage that will need attention before another game can be played. We hope to be able to play our final home series beginning on Friday, but will have further updates in the next couple of days," stated Mississippi Braves General Manager Steve DeSalvo.
