Hoover, AL- The Birmingham Barons spotted the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx a 6-0 lead before scoring eleven unanswered runs, eight of those runs in the eighth inning, to defeat the Diamond Jaxx 11-6.
Carlos Marmol entered the eighth inning with a 6-3 lead. He walked Chris Young to lead off the inning. Marmol was then called for a balk, moving Young to second. Casey Rogowski stepped up to the plate and hit a hard grounder off the lower part of Marmol's left knee. Rogowski wound up with an infield single and Marmol was taken out of the game. There is no word on the severity of Marmol's injury. Victor Ramos (2-2) came in to relieve Marmol and promptly gave up an RBI single to Darren Blakely. Andy Gonzalez slapped a single to right, scoring Blakely with the tying run. David Aardsma came out of the bullpen and walked Pedro Lopez to drive in the go-ahead run. With the infield in and only one out, Jerry Owens slapped a two run single to make it 9-6. Young drove in Lopez with a sacrifice fly to make it 10-6 and Owens went to third and then scored on a throwing error by Diamond Jaxx OF Adam Greenberg.
