MONTGOMERY - The Mississippi Braves swept a doubleheader from the Montgomery Biscuits Thursday at Riverwalk Stadium. The Braves took the first game 7-1 on the strength of Ryan Basner's complete game and the second game 2-1. Both games were seven innings in length.

Biscuits outfielder Delmon Young was 5 for 6 with a solo home run on the day.

In the first game, the Braves unloaded on Biscuits starter Scott Autrey, getting to him early and often. The Braves got off to a 2-0 lead in the first. Iker Franco hit an RBI single and Jon Schuerholz drove in a run with a fielder's choice ball.

Autrey's woes continued in the second when Gregor Blanco hit a 3-run homer.

The Braves scored a single run in the third off Autrey when Onil Joseph tripled to right and scored on Autrey's wild pitch.

Autrey settled down after the third, not allowing another run until the sixth inning when he walked Scott Thorman with the bases loaded.

Autrey left after the sixth inning, allowing seven runs (six earned) on eleven hits and two walks while striking out five. He fell to 3-10 with the loss.

Delmon Young hit his league leading 20th home run of the season in the fourth to account for the Biscuits scoring. Young was 3 for 3 in the game.

While Autrey was struggling, Braves starter Ryan Basner was cruising. Basner pitched a complete game, facing just three over the minimum. Though he was in trouble a couple times, Basner only made one mistake pitch that resulted in Young's home run. He allowed only one run on seven hits while striking out three, improving to 2-6 with the win.

In the second game, the Braves got off to an early lead when Thorman hit an RBI single in the first and homered with two out in the third. Thorman's efforts would turn out to be all the Braves needed.

Braves starter Mike Porzio, who improved to 2-3 with the win, threw five shutout innings, allowing only three hits while striking out three.

Joey Devine pitched a scoreless seventh for his first save of the season.

Biscuits starter Jamie Shields was the victim of no run support. Shields, who fell to 1-4 with the loss, pitched well, going six innings and allowing only two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five.

The Biscuits scored their sole run on a double play ball hit by Delmon Young. Young was 2 for 3 in the contest.

Friday, the Biscuits begin a four-game series in Jacksonville. Biscuits righty Chris Flinn (2-2, 4.35) will make his first start of the season. The Suns will counter with righty Edwin Jackson (1-2, 3.50).
