Stars make roster moves

Huntsville Stars News Release


Huntsville, AL- The Milwaukee Brewers have announced numerous transactions that will affect the Huntsville Stars, including pitcher Mitch Stetter being promoted to triple-a Nashville and pitcher Ty Taubenheim being promoted to Huntsville from Brevard County.

Stetter will join the Sounds Thursday during their series against New Orleans. Stetter, recently named to the Southern League All-Star team, compiled a record of 2-3 with eight saves in 32 appearances this season with Huntsville. The left hander is in his third season of professional baseball and was selected by the Brewers in the 16th round of the 2003 draft

Taubenheim, who will join the Stars for their series finale Thursday night against the Birmingham Barons, was 10-2 with a 2.63 ERA in 16 starts for the Brewers high class-A Florida State League affiliate. The 22 year-old right hander was selected by Milwaukee in the 19th round of the 2003 draft.

The Brewers have also announced that Stars pitcher Manny Parra has been placed on the disabled list and that Ryan Miller has been given his release from the organization. Parra, 5-6 with a 3.96 ERA in 16 starts this season, was a 26th round selection of Milwaukee in 2001 and is in his fourth season of professional baseball. He has been battling soreness in his left throwing shoulder.

Miller was 0-0 with one save in four appearances with Huntsville after joining the club on May 9th. The 27 year old right hander was selected by Milwaukee in the ninth round of the 2000 draft and spent parts of each of the last three seasons with the Stars.

The Stars conclude their four game series with Birmingham tonight at 7:05pm at Joe Davis Stadium.
