Mississippi Braves News Release
The Mississippi Braves announce that OF Jeff Francoeur has been promoted to the Major League Atlanta Braves. OF Brian Jordan has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, so Francoeur has been called up to fill the roster spot vacated by Jordan.
Francoeur, who was named the Braves #1 prospect by Baseball America, batted .275 with 28 doubles, two triples, 13 homers, and 62 RBI through 84 games in Mississippi.
Francoeur, along with teammate Scott Thorman, appeared in every Mississippi Braves game this year. He was among the top five in the Southern League with 28 doubles, 62 RBI, and 43 extra-base hits.
Francoeur becomes the fourth player to make the jump from AA-Mississippi straight to Atlanta. The other three are C Brian McCann, RHP Blaine Boyer, and RHP Jorge Vasquez.
The Braves roster now has 22 active players and one player on the disabled list.
