
Braves outdone by Clippers

Richmond, VA - The Columbus Clippers beat the Richmond Braves 5-2 Tuesday at The Diamond. Marco Estrada pitched seven scoreless innings to lead the Clippers in the opener of a four game series.
The Clippers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI single by Emilio Bonifacio. Columbus pushed their lead to 3-0 in the fourth on a two-run single by Leonard Davis. Ed Rogers scored on an error in the fifth to give the Clippers a 4-0 lead. Columbus tacked on a run in the ninth on an RBI single by Luke Montz. The Braves avoided a shutout with two runs in the ninth. Diory Hernandez chased a run home with a triple and scored on a ground out by Enrique Cruz.
Estrada earned the win. Jim Ed Warden picked up a save. Anthony Lerew took the loss. Hernandez, Cruz, and Josh Anderson had two hits each for the Braves. Davis, Montz, Rogers, and Elijah Dukes had two hits each for the Clippers.
