Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - July 29, 2008 - The Charlotte Knights couldn't take advantage of all the base runners they had, as they lost 6-3 to the Louisville Bats in the first game of a four game series.
The Knights had a total of 14 men reach base throughout the night, but only three of them touched home plate. The Knights got a solo home run from Danny Richar in the fourth inning, and Jerry Owens had his first multi-hit game since returning from the disabled list.
Things got interesting late as the Knights had the tying run at the plate with two outs in the ninth. Former Knights pitcher and Lake Wylie resident Jon Adkins got Chris Getz to fly out to end the ballgame. Adkins earned his 19th save of the season.
The Knights and Bats continue their series tomorrow night at Knights Stadium. LHP Ben Jukich (0-1, 8.68 ERA) starts for the Bats, RHP Lance Broadway (9-6, 4.48 ERA) goes for the Knights. First pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM.
The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at www.charlotteknights.com for more information.
