Durham Bulls News Release
Durham, NC - Buffalo jumped on top of the Bulls in the first inning and never would trail as the Bisons took the first game of the four-game set from the Bulls, 8-7 on Tuesday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Buffalo's first tally came on a bases loaded walk to Morgan Ensberg scoring Trevor Crowe. The Bulls managed to tie the game in the bottom half of the first, the Bisons plated a pair in the second inning highlighted by Michael Aubrey's RBI-double to take a 3-1 lead they wouldn't relinquish.
The Bulls mounted their best attack in the seventh inning when trailing 8-3, they plated four runs on Joel Guzman's RBI-groundout, a two-run double by Reid Brignac and an RBI-single from Elliot Johnson, but that was as close as they would get.
RHP Anthony Reyes (1-0) picked up the win in his first outing since coming over from St. Louis, pitching five innings allowing three runs on five hits with four strikeouts. RHP Jeff Niemann (7-5) took the loss, pitching 4.2 innings allowing five runs on five hits and six walks.
