Rome Emperors News Release
Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Savannah Sand Gnats 2-1 Thursday night in front of 2,176 fans at State Mutual Stadium.
After pitching controlled the first half of the game, Rome's Adam Milligan hit a solo homerun (8) in the bottom of the fifth to give Rome a 1-0 lead.
Savannah answered back in the top of the sixth to tie the contest 1-1 as Joey August hit an RBI double to left scoring Eevan LeBlanc who had reached base on a throwing error.
In the bottom of the eighth the Braves would score the go ahead run. Adam Milligan doubled to left field and walks to both Culver and Schlehuber loaded the bases for Adam Coe who dropped a single down the right field line, plating pinch runner Luis Sumoza, and giving Rome the 2-1 win.
Jeliar Castro (4-3) gets the win for Rome and Philips Orta (1-1) takes the loss for Savannah with Matthew Small (1) earning the save.
The Braves and the Sand Gnats will play again tomorrow night at 7 pm at State Mutual Stadium. For ticket information call 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
