
August Sizzles With an Eight-Game Homestand at The Joe

CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs return from a quick five-day trek to Augusta, Ga. to begin an eight-game homestand against the Delmarva Shorebirds, an affiliate of Baltimore Orioles, and the Lakewood BlueClaws, an affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, in a pair of four-game sets that begin Monday, Aug. 10 and concludes on Monday, Aug. 17 at beautiful Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
The homestand begins with Monday's "Dogs with a Cause" featuring The Hospitality for Heroes Fund and continues with Illegal Use of Your (Ed) Hoculi Night coinciding with BI-LO Two -or-Tuesday. Break in Your In-Laws Night highlights Wild Wednesday while the first four-game series concludes with Condiment Wars III that will be showcased during our popular Thirsty Thursday.
"Fun Is Good" steamrolls into Friday, Aug. 14 with the Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies during Force Protection Red Shirt Friday and the night concludes with Gene Reed Toyota Friday Night Fireworks. A Salute to Negro League Baseball Night will have the RiverDogs and Lakewood BlueClaws donning throwback uniforms and the first 1,000 fans entering The Joe will receive a Homestead Grays replica jersey. Typical Family Sunday fun will electrify Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park with free parking and kids 12-and under eat free plus meet all of the RiverDogs mascots. The eight-game homestand concludes with Monday's "Dogs with a Cause" featuring ALS on Monday, Aug. 17.

Every Monday at The Joe is a "Dogs With a Cause" Night where the RiverDogs team with a local non-profit organization. This Monday, The Hospitality for Heroes Fund will raise money and awareness for helping hand to local hospitality employees and their families who are impacted by a medical hardship presented by WAZS. Bring your neighbor to The Joe as part of Tom McQueeney's State Farm Good Neighbor Monday as neighbors can purchase 2-for-1 admission to the night's game with identification at the box office. One lucky neighbor will receive a pair of binoculars courtesy of Tom McQueeney State Farm Insurance.
Illegal Use of Your (Ed) Hoculi Night / BI-LO Two for Tuesday
Fans bring can bring their BI-LO card or wear a football jersey and receive special 2-for-1 admission as a part of Illegal Use of Your (Ed) Hoculi Night and BI-LO Two-for-Tuesday. The RiverDogs will salute the muscle- bound referee that was mired in a controversial 2008 NFL campaign with a flex-off competition, with an Ed Hoculi look-a-like roaming the stands and tossing penalty flags for no apparent reason. Tuesday also marks the return of "Sack the GM" as RiverDogs Executive VP/GM Dave Echols battles Potter from 98X in a punt, pass, kick and tackle competition between innings. Illegal Use of Your (Ed) Hoculi Night and BI-LO Two-for-Tuesday is presented by BI-LO, 98 X and The CW.
Break in Your In-Laws Night / Wild Wednesday
Wild Wednesday's where fans can enjoy an All-U-Can eat and drink buffet in the Ashley View Pub for an extra $20 will have a unique feel with Break in Your In-Laws Night. The Joe will have a special "in-laws" drop-off zone in front of the stadium as fans that bring in-laws to the game get free admission as the in-laws have to pay double. Wild Wednesday and Break in Your In-Laws Night is presented by B92. Plus a special check presentation to the MUSC Storm Eye Institute from the proceeds from the RP Auction will occur during the game.
Condiment Wars III - Yee Haw Texas Pete! / Thirsty Thursday
Condiment Wars returns to The Joe as fans will be able to vote which is Charleston's favorite condiment: ketchup, mustard, mayo and Texas Pete. Unique between-innings promotions will center on these condiments throughout the game. Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Night directed by South Carolina Chief Justice Jean Toal will have a pre-game ceremony. Thirsty Thursday and Condiment Wars III is presented by 95 SX.
Force Protection Industries Red Shirt Friday / Gene Reed Toyota Friday Night Fireworks / Post and Courier Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame Night
Fans join the RiverDogs and wear red at the ballpark as Fridays are Force Protection Red Shirt Fridays presented by Force Protection Industries, Inc. and WEZL 103.5 FM. Wear a red shirt to the game and receive a dollar off a walk-up ticket price. Fans then have the option to donate that dollar to a military family with parents fighting overseas. John Dodd, Jr., W.S. "Bull" Durham, Donald Morillo and Doug Pounder will be enshrined as the 2009 Class of Charleston Baseball Hall of Fame during a pregame ceremony, which is sponsored by The Post and Courier. Join the RiverDogs for a dazzling display of pyrotechnics immediately following the game that is presented by Gene Reed Toyota.
Salute to Negro League Baseball Night / Replica Homestead Grays Jersey Giveaway
The RiverDogs and Lakewood BlueClaws will be sporting throwback Negro League jerseys for Saturday's game as a part of the RiverDogs Salute to the Negro League Baseball Night. The first 1,000 fans entering the gates will receive a replica Homestead Grays Jersey, courtesy of South Carolina State University. Former Negro League players will be on hand for a special pregame ceremony and will sign autographs. The special pregame ceremony will include the introduction of the 1955 Cannon Street All-Star Team, Humanitarian Award Inductee Robert Morrison, Lawrence A. Holt Memorial Scholarship Award and the Charleston RBI Program players. Kids will also get to run the bases after the game.

Sundays are packed with fun for all as everyone attending the game will be able to meet all three RiverDogs mascots in addition to face painting and inflatables on the concourse to Reading with the RiverDogs. Plus, the players and Charlie T. RiverDogs will sign autographs after the game. There's also free parking and kids 12-and under eat free. Family Sunday is presented by Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission and Star 99.7 FM.
