Ottawa, ON - The Richmond Braves hammered the Ottawa Lynx 12-3 Friday at Lynx Stadium. The Braves pounded 18 hits and Doug Clark drove in six runs as the Braves took the opener of a four game series.

Richmond took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI double by Brayan Pena. The Braves made it 2-0 in the second on a run scoring single by Gregor Blanco. The Braves tacked on two more in the third when Clark chased a run home with a single and Kevin Barry drew a bases loaded walk. The Lynx battled back in the home half on a two run double by Jim Rushford to cut the Richmond lead to 4-2. Richmond responded with two more runs in the fourth. Pena doubled a run in and Clark knocked in another with a single. The Lynx scored again in the fourth on a home run by Pedro Swann. The Braves blew the game open in the sixth on Clark's first home run of the season, a grand slam that gave Richmond a 10-3 lead. In the ninth Wes Timmons and Graham Koonce drew back to back bases loaded walks to cap the scoring.

Barry earned the win. Zach Segovia took the loss. Pena and J.C. Holt had four hits each for Richmond. Swann had three hits for the Lynx.

The Braves and Lynx continue their series Saturday in Ottawa at 6:05 PM. Ryan Baerlocher will make his pitching debut for the Braves against Bubba Nelson. The Braves return home June 5 vs. Pawtucket at 7 PM. For more information please call 359-4444 or visit www.rbraves.com.
