Braves conquer Lookouts 6-4

The Braves take it to the Looks once again, winning tonight 6-4. With tonight's loss, the Lookouts have now lost two series this season.

The Lookouts got the bats hot early as they put two runs on the board in the first inning, highlighted by back-to-back doubles by Joey Votto and Noochie Varner. The Braves came back in the top of the second with a run off a Phil Dumatrait wild pitch. The Braves broke the game open in the fourth inning, as they were able to score three runs. Michael Rosamond led the inning off with a solo home run over the left field wall. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Josh Arteaga, Paul Bush, and Onil Joseph had consecutive singles to plate two more runs.

With the score 4-2, the Braves added insult to injury, as they put two more runs on the board in the sixth inning. The Lookouts tried to make it interesting with a run in the sixth and seventh, however, they were not able to complete the comeback.

Noochie Varner, with two more RBI, led the Lookouts offensive attack. Varner's two RBI tonight gives him 34 for the month. Lookouts' starter Phil Dumatrait suffered his fourth loss of the season after tossing 5.2 innings and allowing six runs, four earned on eight hits. His record now stands at 3-4. Braves starter Paul Bush went 6.0 innings and allowed three runs on six hits en rout to the victory. His record is now and even 3-3.

The Lookouts will try to get back in the win column tomorrow as they take on the Mississippi Braves in the finale of a five game series. Gates open at 5:30 and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:15.
