
BayBears hold Birmingham to two hits

MOBILE, AL- Two BayBears pitchers limited Birmingham to just two hits Wednesday, beating the Barons 2-0. John Hudgins advanced his record to 3-0, throwing seven shutout innings. Hudgins struck out six batters and walked just one. Geoff Jones pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth innings, picking up his first save of the season.
The BayBears win sealed a series victory. It is the third straight series win for the BayBears, who have won 10 of their last 14 games. Peter Ciofrone went 2-for-3 in the game for Mobile. Michael Johnson hit an RBI double and Kennard Jones an RBI single for Mobile?s two runs.
The BayBears and Barons will play again Thursday at 7:05. Jose Oyervidez (2-4) pitches for Mobile against Birmingham?s Ryan Rodriguez (1-3). All BayBears games can be heard on 1480 AM WABB, Comcast Cable Channel 18, and on the internet via mobilebaybears.com.
