Montgomery Biscuits News Release

PEARL, MS - After grabbing just one hit through the first four innings, the Mississippi Braves (51-64) struck for four in the fifth and seven in the sixth, clobbering the Biscuits (60-55) 12-2 Thursday at Trustmark Park.

The four fifth inning runs against Hall all came with two outs. Antoan Richardson singled home a pair, and Tyler Pastornicky and Willie Cabrera followed with RBI hits to make it 4-1.

Josh Satow was on to pitch the sixth when the Braves batted around for the second straight inning. Mike Daniel, Eric Duncan, Mauro Gomez, Pastornicky, and Cabrera all drove home tallies in the inning, putting the Braves up 11-1. They added one against Ryan Reid in the seventh.

The Biscuits got their runs in the second and in the eighth. Chris De La Cruz brought the first run home, and a John Matulia single scored the second.

Hall (5-8) suffered the loss, striking out two and walking two over his five innings. Julio Teheran (2-1) was splendid for the Braves, allowing only two runs on five hits over seven innings while whiffing six.

John Matulia again paced the Biscuits offense, going 2-3. He's now 13-for his last-24.

The Biscuits are now 2.5 games out of the wild card in the South, and the five games above .500 is the fewest since June 2nd.

RHP Justin Garcia makes his second pro start on Friday at 7:05 against Mississippi RHP Tim Gustafson.
