Braves and Wings split pair

Rochester, NY - The Richmond Braves and Rochester Red Wings split a doubleheader Tuesday at Frontier Field. The Red Wings took game one, scheduled for seven innings, 4-3 in eight innings. The Braves bounced back to gain a split, winning the second game 4-3.

In the first game the Red Wings jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Jonathan Rouwenhorst, who had not allowed a run in his previous five appearances. Jason Pridie tripled a run home and scored on Brian Buscher's double. Buscher scored on Matt Macri's RBI single. The Braves rallied back for two runs in the third and one in the fourth to tie the game. In the third Josh Anderson cracked an inside-the-park home run and Brent Lillibridge scored on an error. Lillibridge tied the game in the fourth with an RBI fielder's choice. The Red Wings won the game in the eighth on a run-scoring single by Howie Clark.

Bobby Korecky picked up the win. Matt DeSalvo took the loss. Clint Sammons had a hit to push his hitting streak to nine games. Clark and Pridie had two hits each for the Red Wings.

In the nightcap, the Braves jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single by J.C. Holt and a sacrifice fly by Mike Rozema. Holt knocked in another run with a single in the fourth to give Richmond a 3-0 lead. The Braves stretched their advantage to 4-0 in the fifth on an RBI double by Scott Thorman. The Red Wings cut Richmond's lead to 4-2 in the sixth on a two-run double by Macri. Rochester pulled to within a run in the seventh on a home run by Darnell McDonald.

Charlie Morton earned the win. Zach Schreiber notched a save. Casey Daigle took the loss. Five Braves had two hits each. Clark and Buscher had two hits for the Red Wings.

Richmond continues their series at Rochester Wednesday starting at 6:35. Damian Moss is slated to pitch for the Braves against Glen Perkins.
