Pensacola Pelicans News Release

Adam Brandenburg used his longest outing of the year to give the Pelicans a 4-1 win over the Air Hogs Thursday night and move the Pelicans into sole possession of first place. Supported by an Antoin Gray home run and Francisco Leandro two RBI double, the Pelicans limited Grand Prairie to just one run on four hits with a superb inning of relief from Ulysses Roque before Hunter Davis earned his eighteenth save in the ninth.

The Air Hogs scored the first run of the ball game on a Javier Brito solo round-tripper in the bottom of the second. That's all the ‘Hogs would get however, as the Pelicans took the game the rest of the way.

Antoin Gray used hit thirteenth home run of the season to tie the game at one apiece in the top of the third. The Pelicans added their winning runs two innings later.

Luis Guance led off the top of the fifth with a walk. Kevin Reynolds singled, and Francisco Leandro knocked both runners in with a double to put the Pelicans up by two. The Pels added their fourth run when Marcos Rodriguez singled and Leandro came home.

Adam Brandenburg handled the Air Hogs for seven innings, giving up the Brito homer and three other hits. He struck out seven and walked just one before handing the ball to Ulysses Roque to start the eighth. Roque retired the Air Hogs in order with a strikeout, and Hunter Davis did the same in the ninth.

At the plate, Pensacola's Marcos Rodriguez went 2-4 with a double, RBI, and stolen base. Gray hit the homer and Leandro had the two RBI double.

Pensacola will travel overnight to host the Fort Worth Cats on Friday at 6:35 p.m. Tickets are available at Pensacola-area Circle K locations, online via www.pensacolapelicans.com, and in person at the Pelican Park box office.
