Tulsa Oilers News Release

Tulsa Oilers goaltender Rod Branch has been named the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for February 2-8, the league announced today.

Branch, 28, helped backstop the Oilers to a perfect 4-0 week by going 3-0 with a 1.33 goals against average and a .969 save percentage. The Fort St. John, B.C., native set a league-high this year by stopping 58 shots in Tulsa's 2-1 win over Indianapolis last Tuesday. He followed that up with a 37-save performance against San Angelo on Friday and a 41-stop effort in the Oilers' 6-2 victory in Oklahoma City last Saturday.

For the week, Branch stopped 126 of 130 shots, and helped guide Tulsa to its first four-game winning streak of the season. Prior to that, the Oilers had not won back-to-back games since November 21st.

Branch is 15-12-6 on the season, with a 2.75 goals against average and a .924 save percentage. He leads the CHL with 1,138 total saves, and ranks 6th in minutes played with 2031:09.

The Tulsa Oilers ride their four game winning streak back onto home ice this week, hosting the Colorado Eagles on Tuesday and the Oklahoma City Blazers on Friday. Tulsa then completes the week by traveling to Indianapolis for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday.

Individual game tickets can be purchased at the Oilers ticket office, at Carson Attractions, in the Tulsa Convention Center, plus the Drug Mart locations in Tulsa, Owasso, and Broken Arrow.

Phone orders for game tickets can be made by calling 918-584-2000 or 918-632-7825.
