Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss â The two-time defending CHL champion Memphis RiverKings, coming off a very successful weekend both on and off the ice, will look to sustain their good fortune at home tomorrow night as they host the Indianapolis Ice.
The RiverKings, who swept a two-game set with division leaders Bossier-Shreveport and Colorado this weekend, will match up against an Indianapolis team trying to keep pace in the extremely competitive Northern Conference playoff race.
Memphis helped to keep themselves at the forefront of the playoff race with their wins this weekend, knocking off two division leaders and gaining four crucial points. Memphis remains in sole possession of first place in the wild card race, and sits only eleven points back from Bossier-Shreveport with fourteen games to play.
Overall, the RiverKings hold a 28-19-3 record on the season, and will look to wrap up their three game home stand against Indianapolis on Tuesday at 7:05 CST at the DCC. Following the game at home on Tuesday, the RiverKings hit the road for their last major stretch away from the mid-south this year. Memphis will travel to Indianapolis for a game on Wednesday night, with road games at Wichita and Fort Worth on Friday and Saturday.
The RiverKings will have a key player back in the lineup for Tuesday's game, as left wing Brian Tucker returns from the injured reserve list. Tucker's return should bolster an already-strong offensive lineup which scored seven goals in the last two games.
The weekend homestand was further punctuated by two excellent crowds, as total attendance for the games was nearly 13,000. 5,855 fans witnessed the thrilling 4-3 shootout victory over Bossier-Shreveport, and 7,133 fans were on hand for the 3-0 drubbing of the Northwest Division-leading Colorado Eagles.
Tuesday night's game will also celebrate the upcoming Valentine's Day observance with "Show Your Love" Night at the DCC. All upper-level seats will be only $5 a ticket, and couples will have an opportunity to purchase any lower level "Green" seats at a 2-for-1 discount. Any couple who comes to the DeSoto Civic Center box office and kisses in front of the ticket window will be eligible for the discount.
All 64 RiverKings games can be heard on Easy 680 AM, as well as worldwide via SportsJuice.com. RiverKings games can also be heard inside the DeSoto Civic Center on FM frequency 107.9 FM.
