Brahmas Weekly Update

December 17, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

FORT WORTH, Texas (December 17) - The Fort Worth Brahmas (11-9-4) earned three of six possible points last week, going 1-1-1 in the team's three games. The Brahmas have three games this week, including one at the Fort Worth Convention Center Saturday, December 22 at 7:30pm.

LOOKING BACK:

After a 6-0 loss in Wichita Friday night, the Brahmas returned to the NYTEX Sports Centre Saturday and rebounded with a convincing 4-1 win over the Arizona Sundogs. Chad Woollard and Phil Fox provided the offense for Fort Worth, each finding the back of the net twice, while Kristofer Westblom earned his fifth victory of the season behind a 17-save performance. The 6-foot-2, 170-pound netminder held the Sundogs scoreless for the first 54:15 of the game.

Fort Worth faced off against the Thunder again Sunday afternoon in what was a nail-biter from start to finish. It took eight rounds in the shootout to determine a winner, but Wichita forward Greger Hanson beat Westblom with a backhanded finish inside the right post to give the Thunder a 4-3 win. The Brahmas picked up a point, extending their season-long, eight game point streak at home. Fox scored two goals for the second consecutive night, becoming the first Brahma to produce back-to-back multi-goal games this season. The Stillwater, Minnesota native now has 14 goals and 22 points, leading the team in both categories.

LOOKING AHEAD:

The Brahmas have three games on the docket this week, including Saturday night's tilt versus the Missouri Mavericks at 7:30pm at the Fort Worth Convention Center. The Brahmas won both games they played at the Convention Center earlier this season (3-0 over the Arizona Sundogs November 30; 5-1 over the Tulsa Oilers December 1).

The Brahmas also take on the first-place Thunder twice more this week, after facing Wichita two times last week as well. Fort Worth is yet to defeat Wichita this season, going 0-3-1 against them. The Thunder visit the NYTEX Sports Centre Wednesday, December 19, while the Brahmas make the trip to Wichita's INTRUST Bank Arena Friday, December 21. The Brahmas (8-1-4) and Thunder (11-3-1) have the two best home records in the Central Hockey League.
