Quad City Mallards News Release

QUACK TRACKS

Split

The Mallards split a pair of games with the Rush in Rapid City last weekend. The Mallards matched a season high for goals in a period by scoring four unanswered goals in the third period of last Friday night's 4-2 win- the Mallards' first ever regulation victory in Rapid City. One night later, the Mallards fell 3-2 to the Rush despite jumping out to a 2-0 lead.

Back-to-Back

The Mallards last week won back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Flock defeated the Blaze 4-2 in Bloomington last Wednesday before following up with last Friday's victory in Rapid City. Last Wednesday's win also halted the Mallards' four game losing streak- the club's longest skid of the season.

On the Road

The Mallards last weekend completed a stretch of five straight road games- their longest string of consecutive away games this season- with a record of 2-3-0.

Rapid Fire

The Mallards established new team season bests for fastest two goals twice in as many games last weekend. Last Friday night Bob Preece and Mike Stinziani scored the first and second Mallard goals just one minute and 32 seconds apart in the third period. That pair stood up as the club's fastest two goals for less than 24 hours before Jason Dixon and Anthony Perdicaro provided goals separated by just 20 seconds in the first period of last Saturday evening's game.

Special Teams

While the Mallards remain last in the league on the power play (8.5 percent), they have scored on the man advantage in three of their last four games. The Mallards rank fourth in penalty killing (84.5 percent) and lead the league with five shorthanded goals.

Leaders

Mickey Lang leads the league in shorthanded goals (3) and ranks eighth in total goals (13). Obi Aduba is tied for the league lead in game winning goals (4). John Murray ranks third among goaltenders in minutes played (893:58) and ranks sixth in goals against average (2.62) and save percentage (.915). Among rookies, Mike Hellyer (17) is tied for fourth in points while Mike Stinziani (15) is tied for eighth.

The Mick

Lang scored his league-leading third shorthanded goal in last Wednesday's win in Bloomington and has produced four goals and eight points in his last six games.

Helping Hand

Matt Boyd has collected eight points (one goal and seven assists) in his last eight games and last Friday night in Rapid City matched a Mallard single game season high by recording three assists.

Milestones

Brett Robinson is two points away from 100 for his career...Patrik Levesque is five goals short of 100 for his career.

Head-to-Head

This weekend's meetings are the fourth and fifth match-ups of the season between the Mallards and Oilers. The Mallards have gone 2-1-0 against Tulsa this year and have split a pair of home ice battles with the Oilers. The Mallards are 4-4-0 all-time against Tulsa

Ins and Outs

Forwards Cory McGillis (concussion) and Jason Kostadine (lower body injury) are on 14-day injured reserve.
