The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, prepare for some holiday hockey cheer as they host the Rapid City Rush on Friday and Saturday.

--The Blaze battled back from a 4-1 deficit but fell just short.

--Missouri's franchise-record 7-game win streak ended as the Blaze score their second-highest total for the third time this season in a physical game with 74 penalty minutes.

Standing ground: The Blaze have jumped into a tie for third place in the tight Central Hockey League standings as the schedule moves into the middle third. Jon Booras is second in the CHL in scoring after a 3-goal, 1-assist week to build his total to 34 points (11 goals, 23 assists). Jesse Dudas is now second among CHL defensemen with 23 points (11g, 12a). Tyler Gron is second among CHL rookies with 24 points and he is tied for the rookie with 12 goals. Sebastien Trudeau is right behind Gron in third among rookies with 18 points (10g, 8a) while Jared Walker is seventh in rookie scoring with 16 points (5g, 11a).
That's just offensive : The red goal light continues to shine during Blaze games. The Blaze lead the CHL in goals per game (4.16) but are ninth in goals against (3.52). That's closing in on eight combined goals per Blaze game. The Blaze top the league in goals (104), assists (182) and points (286). The Blaze are tops in the CHL with 34.8 shots per game but last in shots given up with 36.3.
We went to Jared : Rookie Jared Walker registered the Blaze's third hat trick of the season on Friday against Tulsa. Four of his five goals have been scored against the Oilers.
Blaze anatomy: Forward David Gilbert was placed on the 7-day injured list going into the weekend's games and forward Charlie Townsend remains on the 30-day IR.
Junior Blaze update : The Junior Blaze swept Tennyson Chevrolet last weekend, winning 5-1 on Friday and 3-2 in a shootout on Sunday. The Junior Blaze host the Rhinelander Street Cats on Friday and Saturday at 3 p.m. each day before the Blaze contest. Admission is included with the ticket to the Blaze game that day.
