Brahmas falter in Mississippi 3-1

Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - Another divisional loss for Texas leaves Brahmas fans hoping that a little holiday spirit will ignite their offense as Texas fell once again to Mississippi, 3-1 on Saturday.

The game started slow as both teams were unable to get on the scoreboard in the first period. Texas' enforcer Robin Big Snake dropped the gloves late in the first, hoping to awaken the Brahmas' bench.

Scoring opened up in the second with the RiverKings when Zach Pearson slapped a goal past Brahmas goaltender David Cacciola. A few minutes later Grant Jacobsen and the Brahmas answered with a goal of their own at the 5:58 mark, which tied the game 1-1. Jordan Cameron and Greg McConnell were awarded the assists.

For Texas fans, this was as close as the team would get as Mississippi converted on two powerplay goals later on from Louis Dumont and Derek Landmesser. The Brahmas outshot the RiverKings 31-28, but failed on the powerplay as they went 0-5.

Texas will finish their longest road trip of the season Wednesday, December 26 as they travel to Bossier-Shreveport for a 7:05 PM game. The Brahmas will return to action at the NYTEX Sports Centre Friday, December 28 and for New Year's Eve.
