
Scorpions Grab Point In Colorado

[LOVELAND, Col.]-The Scorpions lost a heartbreaker to the Eagles 3-2 in a shootout. Seth Leonard scored the game tying goal with just 39 seconds remaining in regulation. Mike Minard played amazing in net making 38 saves in the tough loss.
Colorado raced out to the early lead on home ice. Riley Nelson collected his 12th goal of the season at the 1:40 mark.
New Mexico came back in the middle of the period with a rebound goal. Dominic Osman's wrist shot hit goalie Marco Emond who was not able to cover up the puck. Konrad Reeder was on the door step and slid the puck just across the goal line.
The Scorpions were only awarded one power play in the opening period, but made the best of it. Chris Robertson's shot from just inside the circle found the back of the net giving his team the 2-1 lead after one period of play.
The shooters got the best of the goalies in the shootout. Colorado edged New Mexico 4-3 in six shootout rounds.
The Scorpions will end the 2007 calendar year with games against Amarillo December 28th and 29th at the Santa Ana Star Center. On the 28th Thunderstix will be given to the fans courtesy of Santa Ana Star Casino. The following night Chick-Fil-A will help the fever by giving away cowbells.
