Brahmas Fall to Americans in Overtime

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Brahmas fell to the Allen Americans in overtime by the score of 4-3 Saturday night.

After a scoreless first period, the Brahmas and Americans each notched two scores in the middle frame. Tomas Klempa and Ross Rouleau scored at 7:41 and 16:59, respectively. Tyler Ludwig and Darryl Bootland scored the second-period goals for Allen.

Fort Worth took a 3-2 lead 12:14 into the third period when Tomas Klempa fired a wrister from the right face-off circle. The goal was Klempa's second of the game, 21st of the season and fourth in the last two games. The Prestany, Slovakia native's shorthanded score was his second in as many nights.

The Americans answered quickly as Trevor Hendrikx scored on a slapshot from the high slot just 20 seconds later.

After the remainder of regulation ended scoreless, Bootland put home a rebound on the doorstep at 0:21 of overtime to seal the 4-3 victory for Allen.

Kristofer Westblom stopped 24 of 28 shots between the posts for Fort Worth, falling to 21-7-5 this season. Steve Silverthorn made 25 saves on 28 shots, improving to 17-7-3 in 2012-13.

Despite the loss, Fort Worth earned a point. The Brahmas now trail the Americans by five points heading into tomorrow's matchup.

The two teams face off at the Allen Event Center tomorrow, Sunday, March 17 at 4:05pm to close out the regular-season series.
