Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - They fought, defended and scored and in the end won as the Texas Brahmas (18-17-1) defeated the Oklahoma City Blazers (18-19-4) 3-1.

Tempers flared early in the first when Brahmas defenseman Chris Mann challenged Blazers Erick Lizon within two minutes of the game. New teammate, Brent MacSween followed suit and joined Mann in the penalty box after dropping the gloves at the 3:34 mark. The Brahmas continued with their aggressive play leading to four minor penalties before intermission.

Texas was able to solve their scoring woes of late when MacSween was able to score his first goal in his weekend debut with the Brahmas on the powerplay. Assists were rewarded to Kevin McLeod and another new face, Ty Hennes. Forward Jordan Cameron kept the offense rolling when he shot the puck past Blazers goaltender Sean Connors with a feed from captain Blair Manning and Mike Vellinga.

The rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma continued to heat up on the ice as two more Brahmas, Chris Thompson and Mark Cody, joined the fight club. Texas outshot Oklahoma 13-11.

Brahmas netminder Brett Jaeger went into the third looking for his first shutout bid of the season. The Brahmas and leading scorer Anders Strome were looking to help Jaeger out when scored shorthanded, putting Texas up 3-0. The Blazers would not go down easily as Garrett Prosofsky scored at 13:02.

The Brahmas prevailed defeating the Blazers 3-1. Jaeger earned first star rights stopping 42 of 43 shots. Texas will return home Sunday afternoon to play the third game in as many days at the NYTEX Sports Centre to face the Corpus Christi Rayz at 3:05 PM.
